Thomas Douglas was born in Sydney New South Wales on 15 December 1924 to Thomas Douglas and Angelina Streeter.
A student, he enlisted in Paddington NSW on 21 July 1943. He gave his father’s address as 182 Bland Street.
He was marched in to the 3/5 Australian Infantry Training Brigade on 27 July. The unit moved to Warwick Queensland the following day. On 5 January 1944 Thomas moved to the Australian Personnel Staging Camp in Canungra QLD.
He was transferred to the 2/5 Battalion on 9 January. The unit embarked from Cairns aboard HMAS Duntroon on 24 November, disembarking in Aitape New Guinea five days later.
Records state that Thomas was killed in action on 13 June 1945 in Aitape New Guinea. His body was not recovered.
He is remembered at the Lae Memorial.
